Most common age - 11 to 15

The most common time for orthodontic treatment is usually between the ages of 11 and 15. By the age of 12, most of the permanent teeth have erupted and are settled into place. Dr. Myser, Dr. Barnhart and Dr. Keylor can now easily identify crooked teeth, bad bites, and gaps. Rarely will any of the problems listed above correct themselves over time, and because of this most parents make the decision to seek orthodontic treatment for their children.

Major benefits dentists have when working with adolescent children is that they are often able to take advantage of the growth spurts and rapid growth of the child and use it to help shape their bite and teeth correctly. Also, because children have such high metabolisms around this age, it can often help reduce the overall treatment time and discomfort of the orthodontic treatment.

Braces today come in a variety of styles, materials, and colors, making teenage life with braces much easier, more comfortable, and even more stylish than in the past.

Helping your teen become more confident

Teenagers are their own people and they have a lot on their minds. So if they can have one less thing to worry about, that’s certainly a good thing. We know how important it is to make your teen feel comfortable, especially when it comes to their appearance. That’s why we go out of our way to have fun and relate to your child while we develop a plan that is just right for them. At Myser Orthodontics, our experienced doctors take a modern approach to straightening your child’s teeth — whether it involves traditional braces, cosmetic alternatives or Invisalign, we want to make sure that your young person is happy and confident.
